ABOUT ME
After completing my post graduate studies in journalism at the IIMC, JNU, I started my career in print news, writing feature stories for the Finacial Times, Midday and The Statesman. In 1995 I joined Television Eighteen, a television production and content company where I worked as a television features journalist, producer and series director until 2001 – creating and writing high end, feature programming for Star TV Network The Amul India Show, The Road Show. I also produced and directed my own shows for Star and CNBC, Fast Track – an automobile and bike show co-authored and edited by Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India magazine and a weekly documentary series, The Global Indian, that tracked and traced the itinerant lives of expatriate Indians, NRIs returning to India, and the Indian diaspora in general. In 2001, I joined India’s top production company, Highlight Films in Bombay as assistant director and moved on to be a full time producer for the company for over a decade.
As part of the Highlight team, I assisted India’s leading ad filmmakers Mahesh Mathai, Prasoon Pandey before becoming a full time producer to Sunhil Sippy, also a leading adfilm and commercial filmmaker in advertising and line producing international commercials, documentaries, corporate videos and music video projects.
In 2011, I joined the continuing studies program at Stanford University in post graduate studies in short fiction, creative non fiction and screenwriting. In 2012, I set up my own production service company, Filmlinks Asia, that services international projects ranging from documentaries to advertising commercials while directing the mini-series Chivas Gentleman’s Code for Star World and a series on Donation and Child Care for Save the Children. My recent productions include ITC Engage, Tiger Beer, Godrej -Bblunt, Romeo Power and RR Kabel…
When I am not producing international films, I travel extensively to photograph people, cultures, communities, ecosystems and textiles. I am currently working on a self-portrait series featuring my mother’s vintage sari collection and a manuscript about life after loss.
